Shillington, PA is my Home Town and is celebrating it's 100th Anniversary I am very proud of the Borough of Shillington and for that reason coined the term "Shillington Proud" . Being born and raised in the area, I lived in the area all my life. Actually, I live within one mile of where I lived when my parents brought me home from the Saint Josephs Hospital in May of 1940. It is 100th Anniversary time for the Shillington Borough being incorporated in 1908. The Borough of Shillington it is known throughout Berks County and the State of Pennsylvania as one of the Best Managed Boroughs it . The Shillington Borough has it's own round the clock 7/24/365 full time Police Department, as well as it's own Water Department, Sewer Department, Recreation Department, Maintenance Department, Fire Department, office staff and a Professional Borough Manager. Shillington is able to provide the residents with the best services with low taxes to the Borough residents. In addition, Shillington is the Home of the Mifflin Community Library, the Shillington Business Association, Shillington Rotary Club, Shillington Fire Department and the Shillingon Lions Club. They share with the other municipalities of the Governor Mifflin School District the Community Days Festival on the School campuses of the Senior High and Middle Schools during the first week of July. Shillington Community Days is well known throughout the region for family fun of all ages and for the best 4th of July fireworks display in the region. Shillington is conveniently located three miles South of the City of Reading and within a ninety minute drive to the Cities of Philadelphia, Allentown, Bethlehem, Harrisburg and Scranton and 150 minute drive to the City of New York. The Borough of Shillington was founded in 1908 and has a population of a little over 5,000 residents. It is 100 Years Old with a lot of history. The monthly Council Meetings are held on the second Thursday of the month starting at 7:30PM, Municipal Building, Corner Broad Street and Philadelphia Avenue (across from the tennis courts at the entry to the Shillington Park area).
