Beautiful Berks County,Pennsylvania
Berks County has lots of boating facilities for you and your family. As a boater for over 55 years, Conrad knows them well. His favorite is the Blue Marsh Lake where one can row around the "no wake" areas for miles and fish in the quiet areas of the lake or water ski and enjoy the splendors of your PWC on the other areas of the lake. Of course, while it is not in Berks County, many boaters of Berks County go to the Chesapeake Bay as it is an easy drive for the "big boat" activities. The Chesapeake Bay is one of the best, if not the best for weekend crusing in the US. Check out the web sites at the bottom of this section for the Blue Marsh Sailing Association and the Chesapeake Bay Yacht Club Association for more details.
In addition to boating, Berks County has been known by many as the Outlet Capital of the World, and there’s no doubt that shopping is an important part of Reading and Berks County, Pennsylvania. People come from all over the country to look great and save big at the city’s many outlet destinations including The Vanity Fair Outlet.
But did you know that Reading PA was known over the years as the Pretzel City and Baseball City or Home of Penski Racing, the Reading Royals or the Reading Railroad or that Berks County is the third largest farming community in the state? And that is what is so great about Reading. While you’re shopping for deals, you are also enjoying the mountains, countless parks, and historical sights that surround you. There is something for everyone here.
For outdoor lovers the area offers tons of natural beauty. You can explore natural caves, visit gorgeous vineyards, take a covered bridge tour, or even visit the authentic Pagoda that overlooks the city – originally built as a luxury restaurant.
For sports lovers, Berks County offers some of the best boating, fishing, skiing, golfing, kayaking, biking, and hiking in the region. You can catch Reading Phillies a or watch the hockey action with the Reading Royals.
The Blue Marsh Lake offers great boating activities (sailing, fishing, water skiing, kayaking) as well as biking & hiking. In addition the Schuylkill River Power Squadron, Blue Marsh Sailing Association and Coast Guard Aux offer courses on boating, safety and navagation activites.
